Fun times in Winona today

Wed Nov 18, 2009, 8:35 AM
  • Mood: Peaceful
  • Listening to: Electronic Light Orchestra, Candlemass,
  • Reading: the Uncanny X-men
  • Watching: IT Crowd, Texhnolyze
  • Playing: Rapplez
  • Eating: nothing different
  • Drinking: nothing different
Come on down and see both of our buildings.
Buy some food that's prepared near the street.
Watch the poor people all wait for busses.
Who the fuck still uses a pay phone?
But at least we're not Detroit!

I set my mood at "Peaceful" which shows someone giving the peace sign. In Street Fighter 2 when you win a match you get a peace sign like that under your name to show how many rounds you have won. It took me forever to realize that these peace signs were not skulls on rocks. I don't know why and looking back I can't see how I made this mistake for so long.

Anyway, now that I am done referencing stuff let’s get back to me rambling.
I am happy. I has visitors. My parents came and that was fun. Dad made 6 mini chocolate cheese pies for me and they were really good. Also I had another visitor. My buddy Nate Lundy came here on a college tour and we hung out and he ended up sleeping over. We stayed up late and watched Kino’s Journey. Nate kept bringing reference to the bum reviews from thatguywiththeglasses.com (specifically the part where he always asks for CHAAANNGE!) Unfortunately, disaster struck. I wanted to have him listen to “the most unwanted song” it is scientifically made so that the fewest number of people possible will enjoy listening to this song. It is not intended to be unlistentoable but just unenjoyable to listen to. It features an opera singer rapping country songs in half of the movements, shrill high pitched little children singing about the holidays and about how you should shop at walmart in the other half. I thought that it was really funny and wanted to share it with him. He said that he wanted me to listen to a really bad song, but the song that he had me listen to was sooo bad that when he said that that band was actually pretty popular I started crying. I would love to complain about how deplorable the singing is, how inconsistent the pitches are and how they change for the worse on a dime, How the band members have some of the “most punch able faces” I have ever seen, and how the band members all appear to be douchbags. I never use that word so I hope that it gets across how much I hate them, but I did not just choose that word because I never use it, but also because they all appear to be douchbags. Like I said, I would love to go into more detail about this but the journal would be way too long. So here is the video for all those who are masochistic or are curious.

This is long and you probably don’t care about this, but it was important to me this month so I want to add it anyway.
So over here VGC (video game club) tries to put a theme together each time we get together. This month it was MMORPG themed. They had a bunch of free trials in a bunch of different ones (example Warhammer). Yet unsurprisingly (to me who called that this would happen) the ones that were the most popular were the ones that were free. I knew that this would probably happen because with the free ones you are able to keep playing them after the trials for the ones you have to pay for expire. One of the ones that I really liked was Rapplez (which has really nice PvE)
Anyway, I had taken up a quest to go through a teleportation… thing so I was on a pirate ship so I could rescue it from a curse that had killed the crew. The witch who cast this curse was still on the ship and had hid themselves behind a barrier kind of thing that you could only get past if you got the six parts of an item that was scattered about the last six rooms of the ship. Now this may seem easy enough, but when you are going through with a group everyone must have their own copy of this item so everyone can pass. We were not able to finish this quest during VGC so I leveled up a little bit and went in on my own. I got all the parts of this thing that I needed (and even a few duplicate parts) but when it came time to fight the boss, because you are supposed to be going through with a group, I was horribly killed. I respawned back in town and had to make my way back to the ship and through it again. I waited in the big room that is at the end of the level (seven doors branch off of this leading to the six rooms with the pieces of the key and the boss chamber). I waited there for a party to go through and I would just join them in beating the boss, but the only people who came through for half an hour were people who didn’t want to team up (for whatever reason (they died)) someone who ignored me, and this one person who kept having to refill their health. I thought that they were probably someone at a low level but didn’t see anything better so I asked them if they needed some help. They had not been able to find any pieces of the key and were quite grateful. Now I had gotten all of the parts when I went through the level at VGC so I knew where most of them were. I say most because I could not remember what we did to get the first part of the key (although order does not matter). While we were looking around in the last room we bumped into that person who had been ignoring me. I asked him if he knew where the missing piece was and he said he didn’t speak English. I jokingly asked him “como se dice espanol?” and he started babbling at me in Spanish. From what little I remembered from middle school I gathered that he needed the sixth piece but he could not understand my question so gave no relevant answer. I convinced the person I was initially helping (who was named Maldulsa) to help him out so we could fight the boss with three people instead of two. Maldulsa did not know any Spanish so I had to dig deep down into my memories of middle school and try to communicate with this person (who was named SpiritWarriorRB) in what little broken Spanish I could remember. We forgot exactly which room it was we found part six in so that took us awhile to find. After we got it I was just able to get through to SpiritWarriorRB before he ran off to kill himself against the boss by himself and that we still had to find part one for Maldulsa. Turns out that that key piece was a random drop from one of the enemies, but it was SpiritWarriorRB who killed that person so he was the only one able to pick up the loot that enemy dropped. I hectically tried to tell him to pick it up (at which point I would initiate a trade to get it to Maldulsa) before it disappeared, but he didn’t get it and there was no one around me at the time to ask for help in translating. We ended up having to get another one at which point we went to fight the boss and kill it in about seven seconds (at this point I was really over leveled). After which I jumped for joy because I was finally off of the training island (which I went out of my way to completely explore and complete every quest over a period of two days). I went to tell Captain Fedora (really (really)) that I had finished the quest and collect my reward and on my way back I bumped into Maldulsa who said that for one reason or another it said that he did not complete that level and was wondering if (since we already had all the key pieces) I would go through it with him again. When we went through the teleportation… thing I was kicked out. Apparently after finishing that quest you can’t go back on that pirate ship again. And poor Maldulsa was unable to get any word about this from me since he had gone through first. On top of this, our party that we made at VGC (of Jake William and I) was reduced to just Jake being able to go through the ship. I had finished it so I couldn’t go back, and apparently William did it on his own time too (although because he is a Cleric he was actually able to go through it alone and not in an improvised party). Poor Jake had to go it alone.
P.S. Nate it is free to download, free to play, there are no membership options so everything is open to everyone, and it takes up little space on your computer. If you get a file tell me which server you play on so I can join you.

My roommate always has something in the sink. He always has something full of detergent soaking in the sink. In fact sometimes I can’t even get water in a cup from the faucet because it is so full of his dishes. As you can imagine this is a problem when I trim my beard or shave. I always (usually) try to wash my hair off without touching his dirty dishes but recently he has started hanging his loofa over the sink, which is disgusting. Because of this when I trim or shave some of my hair gets on his loofa. But I am not washing that off, I am not going anywhere near that thing. I wonder if he has noticed. Also from my hair being there I have noticed that he will sometimes not shower for 3-5 days at a time.

Bah, none of my drawings have been turning out well enough to post or is of something that only I would find amusing. I hope to remedy this in the near future and post something. Even if it is something old.
